Frequently Asked Questions1) If you are a new user to DomainPRO use Domain Search to see if domain names you desire are available. Provide various Contact information which will make up the registration record when you are prompted. The "Registrant" is the owner of a domain name and is the party which ultimately has power over a domain name. The Administrative, Technical, and Billing contact can either be the appropriate contact within your organization or just your personal information. You will also choose to either use DomainPRO's DNS or input your own (more on this below). 2) If you are an existing user, Log In to begin registering names under your User ID account. 4. What is DNS and should I use DomainPRO's DNS or enter my own? DNS (Domain Name System) is a process by which computers translate a domain name such as DomainPRO.com into a group of Internet Protocol (IP) numbers. Like a postal address allows letters to "find" your home - DNS allows surfers to "find" your web site. You have the choice to use DomainPRO.com's DNS (FREE of charge) or input your own DNS. To determine this: a) If you have a web host which you are currently using or know that you are going to use then you can input the DNS information they provide you with (you will have to request it from them). b) If you do not know where you would like to host your site yet, use DomainPRO.com's DNS (this is a free service and very common). When you are ready to switch to your Web Hosts DNS use DomainPRO's Domain Manager described below in #6). 5. How Do I modify my: Domain Information, User ID information, DNS? Domain Information Modification -You can easily change the Administrative, Technical, and Billing information for any domain name you control. Just Log In and choose "Domain Manager" then "Modify Contact Record" from the top tool bars. Next choose the domain name you wish to change the contact information for and enter the new information. User ID information - Log in as above and choose "Profile Manager" from the top tool bars. Next choose the default information you wish to change and enter the new information. DNS Modification - Just Log In and choose "Modify DNS" from the top tool bar. Next choose the domain name you wish to change the DNS for and then enter the new Nameserver information. Note that you will only need the Nameserver informaiton and not the IP #'s. This is because in order for a domain name to work each IP # must have nameservice (i.e., be registered with the central Registry). Your Web Host will provide you with DNS information when you set up an account if you tell them you have already registered your own domain name. For example ehostdomains DNS is the following: Primary Nameserver:   NS.valueweb.net Primary IP address:     216.219.253.211 Secondary Nameserver:  NS2.valueweb.net Secondary IP Address:    216.219.254.10
